Justice Murphy was appointed to the Court on 28 April 2009 at the age of 52. He sits in the general division.
He joined the WA Bar Association in July 1994 and was appointed senior counsel in W.A. in 2003. Prior to being called to the Bar he was a partner with the national firm Blake Dawson Waldron.
As a Barrister he acted in various Supreme, Federal and District Court cases, and in the High Court, and in arbitrations mainly for banks and mining companies and for liquidators, receivers and administrators.
He is a graduate of Sydney University with degrees as Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Economics.
