The Full Bench of the Supreme Court of Western Australia will hold a special sitting on Tuesday, 7 February, at 9.30am in Court 1 to formally farewell the Hon Chief Justice David Malcolm AC who has resigned from the Bench.
Cameras will be permitted in the Court to film the proceedings. However, due to the large number of people attending this ceremony, space and seating inside the courtroom is extremely limited. We have put in place the following measures to accommodate the media:
TELEVISION CAMERAS & PRESS PHOTOGRAPHERS - Television footage and press photography must be pooled. Chiefs of Staff are asked to make their own pooling arrangements and to contact me as soon as possible to confirm those arrangements. Only one television camera and one press photographer will be permitted inside the courtroom. Please be set up by 9.15am.
RADIO - Radio will be able to take sound from a ‘splitter box’ that will be set up inside the courtroom. Please let me know if you will require this facility.
REPORTERS - The press bench inside the courtroom will be available, however, seating is limited. We request that only one representative from each media organisation occupy a seat at the press bench. A large screen will be set up in Court 3 to accommodate anybody who cannot be seated in Court 1.
