A ceremonial sitting of the Full Court of the Supreme Court of Western Australia will be held tomorrow, 17 September, 2004, to commemorate the life of Sir Francis Burt AC KCMG QC.
Sir Francis, who passed away last Wednesday, was a judge of the Supreme Court from 1969 – 1977, Chief Justice of Western Australia from 1977 - 1988, and Governor of Western Australia from 1990 – 1993.
Speakers at the special sitting will include the Hon David K. Malcolm AC, Chief Justice of Western Australia, the Attorney-General the Hon Jim McGinty, and representatives from the Law Society of Western Australia and the Western Australian Bar Association.
Media note: Cameras will NOT be permitted inside the courtroom for this occasion.
