Ms Narelle Johnson QC will be sworn in as a judge of the Supreme Court of Western Australia at Government House on Thursday, 31st July, 2003, at 5pm with the welcoming ceremony at the Supreme Court on Friday, 1st August, at 9.30am.
His Excellency Lieutenant General John Sanderson AC, Governor of Western Australia, will perform the swearing-in ceremony in the Government House Dining Room.
Only one camera will be permitted at Government House to film the proceedings. Television stations are asked to make their own pooling arrangements. Sound can be used, but no lighting will be permitted. Interested media representatives should report to the security post within Government House grounds by 4.45am.
A special sitting of the Full Court of the Supreme Court will be held in Court 1 on Friday, commencing at 9.30 am, to formally welcome Ms Johnson QC to the bench.
This ceremony will include addresses by the Chief Justice of Western Australia, the Hon David Malcolm AC, a representative from the State Government, and representatives from the WA Bar Association, Law Society of WA and Women Lawyers of WA.

Sound can be used, but no lighting will be permitted. Cameras should set up by 9.15 am. Pooling arrangements are not required for press photographers.
