Ms Carmel McLure QC will be sworn in as a judge of the Supreme Court of Western Australia in a ceremony at Government House on Monday, 23 April, at 9am.
The Lieutenant Governor and Deputy of the Governor, the Hon David K. Malcolm AC, will perform the ceremony in the Government House Dining Room.
Please note that only one camera will be permitted at Government House to film the proceedings. Television stations are asked to make their own pooling arrangements. Sound can be used, but no lighting will be permitted. Interested media representatives should report to the security post within Government House grounds by 8.45am.
Following the swearing-in ceremony, a special sitting of the Full Court of the Supreme Court will be held in Court 1, commencing at 9.30 am, to formally welcome Ms McLure QC to the bench.
This ceremony will include addresses by the Chief Justice of Western Australia, the Hon David K. Malcolm AC, Solicitor General Mr Robert Meadows QC, President of the Western Australian Bar Association, Mr Philip Eaton, and President of the Law Society of Western Australia, Mr Ken Martin QC.
Please note that only one camera will be permitted in Courtroom 1 to film the proceedings. Television stations are asked to make their own pooling arrangements. Sound can be used, but no lighting will be permitted. Cameras should set up by 9.15 am.
