MEDIA STATEMENT
I welcome the announcement by the State Government of the establishment of drug courts in Western Australia. I have previously expressed support in principle for the idea behind establishing these courts.
Given the substantial number of offences currently being committed by people, particularly by young people, to feed their drug addiction, the community stands to benefit greatly by the establishment of a regime which is designed to cure addiction. This will remove the reason for offending and help significantly reduce the crime rate.
