MEDIA RELEASE
Mr John McKechnie QC will be sworn in as a judge of the Supreme Court of Western Australia at a ceremony at Government House on Tuesday, 2 March at 8.45am.
His Excellency the Governor Major General Michael Jeffery will perform the ceremony in the Government House Dining Room.
Cameras will be permitted. Interested media representatives should report to the security post within Government House grounds by 8.30am.
Following the swearing-in ceremony, a special sitting of the Full Court of the Supreme Court will be held in Court 1, commencing at 9.30 am, to formally welcome Mr McKechnie QC to the bench.
This ceremony will include addresses by the Chief Justice of Western Australia, The Hon David Malcolm AC, Attorney-General, The Hon Peter Foss QC, President of the Western Australian Bar Association, Mr Wayne Martin QC and President of the Law Society of Western Australia, Mr John Ley.
Cameras will be permitted in the courtroom to film the proceedings but should set up by 9.15 am.
